A hungry Humpback whale-entertaining the locals
Just another day-driving to town-

When you head up the road from Cottrell's Cove, you pass many small communities-one of these is Phillip's Head-where one can often spot whales coming in to feed on Capelin-watcht the seagulls race to where they will come up next giving you a small warning where to look or point your camera-then hear the blow and the splashing-one feels humbled by the majesty of these great animals-I spent an hour on my way in and then another hour on the return trip in awe.

The drive from The Cove to Botwood is difficult but rewarding-you pass through many small communities and towns-these pictures were taken in Phillip's Head about halfway-the Whales come in to feed on the Capelin-you can track their progress by watching the many gulls who wait for them to emerge driving up all the small fish-it is incredible to watch and very humbling to know one of the largest creatures on earth is so gentle and harmless-I was truly in awe and just spent hours watching.
